Like all other features, Web hosting also comes in different kinds, depending on the availability of your resources. Web hosting may be free but most is paid. The basic scope of web hosting is web sites. Files are uploaded to the FTP or File Transfer Protocol. There are two kinds of websites, the Single or static page and the complex page. The single page are those that are not supported by databases whereas with complex sites. Databases are storage of information in every system that is being implemented. Some of the web hosting packages, be it free or paid, has feature for databases.

 

  • Free Web Host – From the word itself, this kind of web hosting is free. There are Hosts that lend its name for the purpose to help those who cannot avail its domain names. This kind of hosting is also dependable on the advertisers. Sometimes, this hosting service also depends on the referrals of their users, and resells hosting. This kind of web hosting is applicable for students. IT students usually have Online Project implementation. Through this web hosting, they may be able to upload their projects here. This is also applicable for those small businesses who wanted to save from advertising over the WWW. But this web hosting package has only a limited time frame for uploading and updating since they are free of charge and there were many forecasted web user. For a blogger, this may be a useful tool for a start. Once being assigned with a domain name, it should be updated every now and then since it has its limitation.
  • Shared Hosting – This kind of web hosting is the most commonly used by some companies because this is very economical. They usually share one server but two or more websites wherein each website has its own partition or section on the server to differ it from each other. This can also be owned by 2 or more organization. The resources will be shared, such as RAM and CPU usage. Not that costly since this is shared. If one’s company is not that very big enough to used the whole of the server, it can be shared with other companies. It may be a saving also for the business expenses.
  • Dedicated Hosting – Through this web hosting package, you will own your own Domain but will not have your own server. The client rents the entire server and will also have full control over the package which includes the security and maintenance except for the server itself.
  • Collocated Hosting – This is a package preferred by large companies. This is same as the dedicated hosting except that it owns its server. In this package, they can have their own server that will connect them over the internet. The company will own the whole of it from the server to the bandwidth and memory storage. This kind of web hosting package is expensive yet powerful.
  • Managed Hosting – In this web hosting package, one might be able to have its own web server but is not allowed to have a full control over it to be guaranteed that the quality of service is being maintained. They are only allowed to manage their own data and other management tools.
